Service Description

This Latin course covers the perfect system passive and active/passive subjunctive of 1st-4th conjugations and -io verbs, the imperative mood, vocative case, 4th declension neuter nouns, and 3rd declension adjectives. It includes nine irregular adjectives, regular and irregular comparison of adjectives and adverbs, and various pronouns (3rd person, demonstrative, intensive, reflexive). Syntax topics include apposition, adjectives used as nouns, subjunctive in purpose clauses, exhortations, deliberative questions, and the objective and partitive genitive. Through a wide range of workbook exercises, students can effectively master the necessary skills and swiftly recognise key concepts. To succeed in this course, students are advised to dedicate 30-45 minutes per day. Evaluation will be based on active participation, weekly quizzes, as well as a mid-term and final exam. Prerequisites: Completion of Memoria Press Second Form Latin (or equivalent). Students from different Latin programs should review the Second Form (Memoria) table of contents to understand what is assumed prior to starting this course. Required Materials: Third Form Latin Student Text, Student Workbook, Workbook Key and Test and Quizzes (Memoria Press). Materials will need to be purchased from a Memoria Press provider. Course sessions: This course will commence in the week starting 29 July. There are two one-hour sessions each week. These sessions will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1 pm (AEDT/AEST). There will be a term break from 30 September until 11 October. Classes resume in the week commencing 14 October. The final week of classes for this course will commence on 9 December.
